MACHAME ROUTE KILIMANJARO

Although it’s not the easiest route up Mount Kilimanjaro, The Machame Route in Tanzania is the most popular route by climbers who intend to conquer and travel Africa. It offers the most impressive views of all the routes and a huge variety of habitats. Approximately 62 kilometres (32 miles) from gate to gate, it’s definitely for physically fit people who have climbing experience.

Accommodation is in tents, and the climb is pretty steep, but the views make it all worthwhile. Your trek will begin at Machame gate, which is at the southern base of the mountain and set in lush rainforest.

Then you’ll ascend towards the Shira plateau. From there, you’ll wind around the mountain with spectacular views all the way.
