FISHING IN CAPE TOWN

With dry, warm summers, and wet mild winters, Cape Town is a perfect destination for fishing enthusiasts, with some of the richest fishing grounds in the world. Catch Yellowfin, Longfin & Bigeye Tuna, Snoek, Cape Salmon, Skipjack, Katonkel, Dorado, Reef Fish, Kob, Yellowtail & a variety of Sharks, including Bronze Whalers, Atlantic Blue & Mako Game Sharks & the occasional Marlin.

DEEP SEA FISHING

If you’re keen on a deep sea adventure, Cape Town should definitely be on your list of must-have tours and packages. Deep sea fishing can be enjoyed all year round, but if you’re keen to catch a yellowfin tuna, the best times are between March and June and then again in October through to December.

Cape Point is where the warm Indian Ocean meets the cold Benguela current of the Atlantic Ocean, and the currents attract huge numbers of pelagic and coastal game fish. There are number of options of chartered fishing expeditions, with experienced skippers and crew.

Some examples of boats that can be chartered include ‘Extravagance’, which is a 32-foot boar with four 250HP engines, accommodation for 8 people and satellite navigation equipment; ‘Decadence’ is spacious and can accommodate four people, it’s got a broad platform for your catch and is fitted with radar and electronic equipment to locate shoals of fish; ‘Indulgence’ is an aptly named 25-foot boat that has accommodation for four people and great deck you can use to barbeque your catch of the day. It’s fully equipped with a fish locator and navigation tools.
