NOTES
The Blue Train provides contemporary luxury and 24 hour service. It has been voted the “world’s leading luxury train” at the World Travel Awards for four years running.
Its interior design, service and luxury compare with top five star hotels. Each suite on board the train has an en-suite bathroom with bathtub or shower, a telephone, TV monitor and individually controlled air conditioner.
There are four suites per coach and a professionally trained butler is on duty on every coach to cater to the needs of his guests. The Club Car is designed along the lines of an old gentleman’s club for those who enjoy a good port wine and after dinner cigar or coffee. A large video screen provides a view of the scenery ahead of the train, courtesy of a camera mounted on the locomotive.
For non-smokers, the Lounge Car provides a smoke free environment where high tea, various beverages and snacks are served. Staff is available 24 hours a day and professional chefs prepare world class cuisine for every meal. A choice of only the finest wines is served to compliment meals.

Day 1:

  1. 14:00 Register and check-in at The Blue Train Station Lounge, Pretoria Station
    Guests enjoy pre-departure snacks and drinks.

  2. 15:15 Boarding commences
    Butlers usher guests to their suites. Suite orientation done by butlers. Boarding concludes at 15:45.

  3. 16:00 The Blue Train departs from Pretoria Station
    (Will depart earlier if all guests have checked-in.)

  4. 18:30–20:00 First sitting for Dinner
    Please Note: Dinner is an elegant affair and men are requested to wear a jacket or waistcoat, and ladies elegant evening wear. Guests enjoy post-dinner drinks, Cognacs and Cuban cigars in the Club Car before retiring to bed.

  5. 20:30–22:00 Second sitting for Dinner
    Please Note: Dinner is an elegant affair and men are requested to wear a jacket or waistcoat, and ladies elegant evening wear. Guests enjoy post-dinner drinks, Cognacs and Cuban cigars in the Club Car before retiring to bed.

Day 2:

  1. 06:00 –09:00 Breakfast is served on a first-come-first-served basis
    OFF-THE-TRAIN EXCURSION (Weather & time permitting.)

  2. 09:30 The Blue Train arrives at Kimberley Station
    Guests disembark and gather at the Railway Museum, from where they will be ushered to a bus, which transfers them to the Kimberley Open Mine Museum.

  3. 10:00 Guests arrive at the Open Mine Museum for a tour of the mine
    Guests are first taken to view interesting and historical sites. Guests are also taken onto an enclosed ramp on the edge of the Big Hole.

  4. 12:30 Guests depart from Open Mine Museum for Kimberley Station
    At Kimberley Station guests are greeted with a glass of sherry. The sherry glass engraved with The Blue Train logo is a memento for guests to keep.

  5. 13:00 The Blue Train departs Kimberley Station for the journey southbound to Cape Town

  6. 13:00–14:15 First sitting for Lunch
  7. 14:30–16:00 Second sitting for Lunch
  8. 16:30 High Tea is served in the Non-Smoking Lounge Car

  9. 18:30–20:00 First sitting for Dinner
    Please Note: Dinner is an elegant affair and men are requested to wear a jacket or waistcoat, and ladies elegant evening wear. Guests enjoy post-dinner drinks, Cognacs and Cuban cigars in the Club Car before retiring to bed.

  10. 20:30–22:00 Second sitting for Dinner

Day 3:

  1. 06:00–09:00 Breakfast is served on a first-come-first-served basis

  2. 10:30 The Blue Train arrives at Cape Town Station
    Butlers usher guests to the Arrival Lounge.
